ARGENTINE TANGO is currently enjoying a welcome renaissance all over the world. Tango’s defining characteristics of intimacy, intensity and improvisation give it an enduring fascination. It is also great exercise and helps to improve such qualities as rhythm, musicality and coordination.

CLAIRE LOEWE has trained in Buenos Aires and London. Her masters include Jorge Dispari, Adrian & Amanda Costa, Alejandro Hermida, Andrea Misse& Leandro Palou. Having discovered Tango de Salon, in the Villa Urquiza style about 15 years ago, she has continued to explore and enjoy this wonderful, elegant and intimate style. 

Claire has been teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in London for over 9 years, including group and private lessons. Previously based at the Factory, North London, Claire is now based in South London. She teaches at her own school, Tangosouthlondon, based at The Constituttional Hall, East Dulwich, and STUDIO HA/LF in Peckham.

Claire has been dancing Tango for over 15 years, including dance performances with the quintet ‘Tango Volcano’ and ‘Tangodansa’ and her own dance company ‘Tangomedio’.

Recent tango performances include; The London Travel Show - performances at Excel Hagen daas – performing event over three days around London promoting the new Argentinean Dulche de Leche flavour. Tango Volcano - Performances with this live Tango quartet at the Chichester Music Festival, and the Cobden Club and the Union Chapel, London. Xmas Shows - at the Factory Dance Studio, London Numerous professional performances at private events

Other appearances include teaching and performing for Channel 4 on ‘The Fit Farm’, and BBC 2 ‘The Dancers Body’, presented by Deborah Bull.

Claire has also performed for many years as an actress, including world tours with The English Shakespeare Company.


LUIS RODRIGUEZ studied in Buenos Aires, his birthplace, with some of the greatest masters of Tango, in various different styles.

These include:
Claudio Gonzales, Julio Balmaceda y Corina de la Rosa, Roberto Herrera, Milena Plebs,Mora Godoy Studio, Osvaldo y Coca Cartiery, Luis Solanas,etc.
 
 Luis started dancing African dance from the age of 6. From 11 years old, Luis started his dance education in Ballet and expresive dance, later  studying at The University lomas de zamora. He then learnt Argentine Tango in the Escuela Mora Godoy , Teatro San Martin, Instituto universitario nacional de arte (iuna) and many more.

In Bs.As, Luis performed Argentine Tango in numerous prestigious shows and milongas, including La Esquina de Osvaldo Pugliese Y de Homero Manzi, La viruta Tango , Mercosur eventos, Bar del Viejo Hotel, Teatro Payro, hurlingam.
He was also a member of the Ballet of the University De Loma de Zamora.

Luis's film credits include 'Luna de avellaneda' for Polka productions,directed by Juan Jose Campanella.
 
In Europe, Luis has worked in Rome, Montpellier, Istambul, and Bodrum.
In London, he has performed at many events, including The famous Waldorf Hotel, Kensington Olympia “Move It Festival”, and the Sadlers Wells Theatre, London.
 

Luis has been dj'ing professionaly from 15 years of age, and is now often a guest DJ for London's most popular milongas.

Luis and Claire have been teaching and performing together for just over 4years.

STUDIO HA/LF

This inspiring new studio was built as part of a project shown on Channel 4’s TV series ‘Grand Designs’ featuring Monty Ravenscroft and Claire Loewe. If you want to see more of the house, check out the website www.peckhamhouse.com

It has many personal feaures, including a beautiful wood floor made from a sycamore tree growing on the site. Soon to be revealed will be a baroque fresco painted by Richard Schramm.

STUDIO HA/LF is host to regular social Tango evenings.
